Relackout

Remote control from your phone

Turn on Remote Access, set a PIN, connect with a QR code, and use your panel from a phone or tablet browser.

You can switch scenes from the phone in your pocket, without walking back to the desk. There’s no app to install: you connect the Relackout running on your computer to a browser on a phone or tablet on the same Wi-Fi network. This guide covers turning on Remote Access, changing the default PIN, connecting with a QR code, using the panel on a phone and a tablet, Cue Transport, and revoking access.

How it works: same network, just a browser

When you turn on remote access, Relackout starts a small server on your computer. A phone, a tablet, or another computer on the same Wi-Fi network connects by opening an address in its browser — there’s nothing to download from an app store. On the left side of the home screen, under the output cards, the Remote Access card shows the status. Remote access availability depends on your plan.

Turn on Remote Access

  1. Click the Remote Access card in the left column of the home screen.

Home screen, Remote Access card shows a gray dot and Server off, not yet clicked
  2. On the General Settings screen that opens, scroll down to the Remote Access heading.

General Settings screen, Remote Access section visible, switch off, PIN 1234, Port 3847
  3. Click the switch on the right of the card.

Switch on, Server on text with a green check, access addresses and QR code visible below

These settings belong to the workspace, so each venue can have its own PIN and its own state.

Change the default PIN

The default PIN is 1234. Always change it — anyone on the same network could try that code.

  1. Type “4826” into PIN (4–6 digits).

PIN field reads 4826, not yet saved
  2. Click an empty spot on the card to save the PIN. Next to it, note the Port field: it’s the door the server listens on, and you usually don’t need to touch it.

Connect with the QR code

The fastest way to connect a phone is the QR code: scan it with your phone’s camera, and the address opens in the browser. You can also type the address by hand.

  1. Look at the QR code under Quick access via phone (QR code):.

QR code and the LAN address above it, cropped close
  2. [Phone] On the page that opens, type “4862” into PIN by mistake, tap CONNECT.

Phone PIN screen, four masked digits in the PIN field, red Invalid PIN warning and the CONNECT button below
  3. [Phone] Reopen the page, type “4826” into PIN, tap CONNECT.

Phone in portrait after connecting, the Live Control panel highlighted: four scene buttons, two cue buttons and the MASTER fader, nothing tapped yet

Use the panel on your phone

On the phone, you get the panel you picked for live use on the computer — the buttons and faders you built in the Designer screen are all here.

  1. [Phone, landscape] Tap the “Warm White” scene button.

Phone in landscape, Warm White button shown pressed/active
  2. Drag the MASTER fader down to half, then all the way back up.

MASTER fader all the way up
  3. Tap the red Blackout icon in the header.

    Blackout icon turned solid red
  4. Tap the amber Clear all live values, stop cue and scene icon.

Blackout released, scene and cue stopped, panel buttons no longer active

Zoom and lock on a tablet

On a tablet, it’s the same address and the same PIN. The buttons fit comfortably on the bigger screen, which makes it ideal to leave at the bar or in the DJ booth.

  1. [Tablet] Connect with PIN “4826”, tap CONNECT; pinch the panel to zoom in.

Tablet, Live Control screen zoomed in, a percentage badge at the top right
  2. Tap the lock icon at the bottom right.

Lock icon turned to the closed state, view frozen
  3. Tap the “Red Pulse” scene button.

Cues and other remote screens

The header has more screens. The Cues icon opens a cue screen with big buttons.

  1. [Phone, portrait] Tap the Cues icon in the header.

Cue Transport screen opened after tapping Cues, its title highlighted; two cue list rows and the Stopped status
  2. Tap the “Intro Loop” row, then tap GO; the status line shows Cue 1 / 2.

ACTIVE 1 badge on the Intro Loop row, status line Cue 1 / 2, GO highlighted, Back/Pause/Next now active
  3. Tap Next: the status line moves to the next step (Cue 2 / 2). Tap Pause to stop playback.

ACTIVE 2 badge on the Intro Loop row, status line Cue 2 / 2, Pause and Next highlighted
  4. Tap the back arrow to return to Live Control; look at the Fixture Control, Mixer Designer, and Scene Designer icons in the header in turn.

Four header icons highlighted: Fixture Control, Cues, Mixer Designer and Scene Designer

These three screens let you adjust fixtures, build a panel, or edit a scene right from a phone or tablet — so you can do more than play things back.

Revoke access

  1. When you’re done, tap Exit at the top right.

After Exit, the phone is back on the PIN screen with an empty PIN field

The phone forgets the PIN. To take back access you gave someone, change the PIN on the computer: every connected device drops and asks for the new code. If you won’t use it at all, flip the switch off, and the server stops.

What’s next

Turn on remote access, set your PIN, connect with the QR code, and keep your panel in your pocket. To plug in a MIDI controller and map its buttons by learning, see MIDI mapping and LED feedback.
