Kalfa packages: importing ready-made lighting designs

Sync your inventory to the cloud, then preview, check missing targets and import ready-made lighting design packages from kalfa.art.

kalfa.art is a separate product from Relackout: a memory-aware, multi-disciplinary AI studio for playwrights and other artists. Its lighting module turns an approved lighting plan into scene-by-scene cue designs based on your venue’s real fixture and patch inventory, then sends it to Relackout in one click. This guide walks you through the whole flow: syncing your inventory to the cloud, previewing a package kalfa.art sent, reading a package with missing targets, importing, and dismissing or deleting a package.

What kalfa.art is, and where packages come from

When someone designs lighting for a work in kalfa.art and clicks “Send to Relackout”, that design shows up here as a package. A package carries one or more lighting designs (cues) and the fixture or group each one targets. Relackout checks those targets against your real patch; once matched targets are imported, each design lands as its own scene and its own cue — nothing in your existing scene and cue lists is touched.

Sync your inventory via the cloud

For kalfa.art to design a show that fits your venue, it first needs to know which fixtures you have.

  1. Open Settings from the home screen.

Settings screen, the Account and License card blurred automatically at the top
  2. Scroll down to the Cloud Sync (Kalfa) box: you’ll see the "Not synced yet — Kalfa reads your fixture/patch inventory via the cloud." line and the note below it.

Cloud Sync (Kalfa) box showing the Not synced yet line and the Sync now button
  3. Click Sync now.

The same box, the line now showing a Last sync timestamp with the current date and time

Open the Kalfa Packages screen

  1. Go back to the home screen; click the Kalfa Packages card.

Kalfa Packages screen, three packages on the left all tagged Pending, a hint on the right asking you to select one

Preview a package

  1. Click the Opening Scene package on the left.

Opening Scene package selected, Pending badge, metadata line showing all 9 targets matched inventory
  2. Click Preview on the first cue row.

The first cue row highlighted with a selection border, its button now reading Stop
  3. Click Stop on the same row.

The cue row back to its normal border, its button reading Preview again

Import the package

  1. Click Import all at the top.

Opening Scene package's badge switched to Imported, with a notification below reporting 3 scenes and 3 cues imported

Importing never touches your existing scenes or cue lists; every design in the package is added as its own scene and its own cue.

A package with missing targets

A kalfa.art design can target a fixture that isn’t in your patch — let’s see what happens then.

  1. Click the Red Night package on the left. The amber warning under the metadata line lists the two targets your inventory doesn’t have: patch:50, patch:51.

Red Night package selected, metadata line showing 7 targets matched, an amber warning below it noting 2 targets missing from inventory: patch:50, patch:51
  2. Click Import all at the top.

Red Night package's badge switched to Imported, the notification reporting 2 scenes and 2 cues imported and 2 targets skipped

Dismiss or delete a package

  1. Click the Demo Design package on the left.

Demo Design package selected, Pending badge, all three buttons visible: Delete, Dismiss and Import all
  2. Click Dismiss. The package stays in the list with the Dismissed badge; the selection clears and the right panel goes back to the select-a-package hint.

The Demo Design row still in the left list with a Dismissed badge, the right panel back to the select-a-package hint
  1. Select Demo Design in the left list again, click Delete at the top right and confirm in the confirmation window.

The Demo Design row gone from the left list, the right panel back to the select-a-package hint

What’s next

Delete removes a package for good but never touches scenes or cues already imported from it; Dismiss just keeps the package in the list and changes its status. You’ve now seen the whole flow, from syncing your inventory to previewing a package, handling missing targets on import, and cleaning up the list. Next up: setting up a full night for a bar or club end to end, from patching to scenes, Sound-to-Light and phone control.
