Show notes

Build a multi-page cue sheet with Notes, format key lines, add it to your live panel, and flip pages with a click or arrow keys.

Running a show means more than lighting cues — there’s a running order, a note about the haze machine, a reminder for the first song. Relackout’s Notes feature keeps all of that in one multi-page document, right next to your scene buttons. This guide takes you from an empty Notes list to a formatted, multi-page cue sheet living on your live panel, flipping pages with a click or the arrow keys.

Create a note document

  1. Click the Notes tile on the home screen.

Notes list screen with no documents yet; the New document button is visible.
  2. Click New document.

Note document editor open; the Document title field starts out filled with New document, and the untitled first page is on the left.

Write your page: headings, lists, color

  1. Replace the “New document” text that fills Document title with “Friday Concert”; type “Opening” into Page title.

Document title Friday Concert and page title Opening filled in; the page list on the left now reads 1. Opening.
  2. Click into Content, click Numbered list in the toolbar, type “Cue 1 · Intro Loop: when the doors open”, press Enter, then type “Cue 2 · Warm White: when the host walks on”.

Content area with a numbered list of two cue lines.
  3. Press Enter twice to leave the list, type “Haze machine at 7:55 PM”; select the line, click Bold, click the red color swatch, then pick “22 px” from Text size.

Selected line now bold, red and in a larger size; a yellow Unsaved label is visible at the top right.

Add, reorder and delete pages

  1. Click Add page on the left; type “Dance Set” into Page title and add a short content line.

Page list now shows two rows: 1. Opening, 2. Dance Set.
  2. Click Add page again; type “Closing” into the title and add a short content line.

Page list now shows three rows: 1. Opening, 2. Dance Set, 3. Closing.
  3. Grab the Drag to reorder handle on the third row and drag it above the second row.

Page list reordered to 1. Opening, 2. Closing, 3. Dance Set.
  4. Click Add page for an empty fourth page, then click the red Delete page button that appears next to it.

Page list back to three pages, in the reordered order.

Pages flip in this order once the document is live, so put them in the order the show actually runs. Delete page only shows up once a document has more than one page — there’s always at least one left.

Don’t forget to save

  1. Click Save at the top right.

The yellow Unsaved label is gone and the Save button is now dimmed.
  2. Click the back arrow.

Notes list showing the Friday Concert document with an updated timestamp.

Add the Notes component to your live panel

  1. Click the Designer tile on the home screen; click the Main Panel layout on the left.

Mixer Layout Designer open with the Main Panel layout selected; existing scene buttons and MASTER are visible.
  2. In the click-to-add list at the bottom of the left panel, click Notes.

A small new Notes box on the canvas, selected and overlapping the Blue Night button and MASTER, with the Properties panel open on the right.
  3. The new box lands on top of the Blue Night button and MASTER. Drag the box by its middle into the empty space to the right of MASTER, then drag the resize handle at its bottom-right corner to make it about 280×350.

Notes box moved into the empty space to the right of MASTER and enlarged to a readable size.
  4. In the Properties panel, pick “Friday Concert” from the Note document dropdown.

Notes box now shows the Opening page and a 1 / 3 counter; Friday Concert is selected in the Note document dropdown.
  5. Click Save in the top bar.

Mixer Layout Designer top bar after saving the layout.

Flip pages live

  1. Click Use in Live in the top bar.

Live Control screen open with the Main Panel layout; the Notes component shows the Opening page at 1 / 3.
  2. Click the Next page arrow at the bottom of the Notes box.

Notes box now shows the Closing page at 2 / 3.
  3. Press the right arrow key on your keyboard.

Notes box now shows the Dance Set page at 3 / 3.

Share it with your crew

The Notes component isn’t limited to your own screen. On a tablet connected through remote access (covered in Remote control from your phone), the same live panel opens with the same cue sheet. Each device keeps its own page position — your stage manager can sit on the closing page on their tablet while you stay on the opening on your desktop. The tablet only reads the notes; you still make edits in the editor on your desktop and click Save when you’re done.

What’s next

One document, a page for every part of the show, key notes in color — right next to your panel and on your crew’s tablet. Next up: Workspaces, where you’ll set up a separate space for each venue you work in.
