Device activation
Activate Relackout on a device, how many devices your plan allows, moving to a new computer, and the offline grace period.
When you activate your license on a computer, Relackout binds that license to that device. This guide covers what the activation screen shows, how many devices one license runs on at the same time, how to name this computer in Settings, how to move a license from an old computer to a new one, and how long Relackout keeps working once the internet drops.
Activating Relackout on a device
The first time you sign in with your account — or if the selected license has been removed from this device — Relackout takes you to the License activation screen. Every license on your account is listed on its own card: plan name, status, expiry date or Lifetime with the version range it covers. A license you can activate shows a clickable Activate button; if that license is currently active on another device, the button is replaced by a disabled, unclickable Bound to another device instead. If the list looks empty, click Refresh licenses to load it again.
The very first sign-in-and-activate flow, right after installing, is covered step by step in Install and start your free trial. This page covers the same screen for a reader who sees it again later — switching computers or moving a license.
How many devices your plan allows
The plan comparison on relackout.com shows how many devices each plan allows per license. Today that number is 1 for every plan (Trial, Standard, Pro) — and it matches exactly what the app enforces: a license can have only one active device connection at a time. Trying to activate the same license from a different computer is rejected; the card already shows a disabled, unclickable Bound to another device.
Name this computer
If you have more than one license or device, naming this computer makes it easy to tell them apart in the portal’s device list. This name is edited in the Account & License card in Settings.
Press Enter to save the name; it shows up both on this card and in the customer portal’s device list. In this page’s screenshots the card is blurred because it carries account-specific details — email, name, plan, status, remaining days, and expiry date; only the heading is readable and the device name box is highlighted. On your own screen you’ll see the whole card, including the name you typed.
Moving to a new computer
There’s no “deactivate this device” button inside Relackout itself, in Settings or anywhere else. Moving a license from an old computer to a new one goes through the customer portal instead:
- Open the My licenses and devices page in the customer portal.
- On the card for the license you want to move, click Remove device under the active device, and confirm the dialog that opens.
- On the new computer, open Relackout and sign in with the same account; on the activation screen, click the now-clickable Activate.
After you remove the device, the old computer can no longer validate that license; once its offline grace period also runs out, it’ll show “Please reactivate this device for the selected license.” there — that’s expected, the license is simply bound elsewhere now. If you try to activate on the new computer first, before removing it from the old one, the request is rejected and you’ll see License is bound to another device. Unlink from portal first.; the fix is the same — remove it from the portal first, then activate. The full list of these messages lives on License and activation issues.
Offline use and the grace period
Relackout doesn’t need a constant internet connection for day-to-day use. Every successful online check gives you a 72-hour offline grace window; while you’re online, the app repeats that check automatically, so as long as you’re connected the window keeps resetting to a full 72 hours.
As the window shrinks, an amber banner appears at the top of the screen: Offline grace will expire in less than 48 hours. with less than 48 hours left, Offline grace will expire in less than 24 hours. under 24 hours, Offline grace will expire in less than 6 hours. under 6 hours, and Offline grace expired. Connect internet and validate license. once it runs out. A second, similar set of warnings tracks your license’s own expiry date instead (Your package will expire in less than 48 hours. and so on); if both would apply at once, the license-expiry warning takes priority. You can close the banner with its × button, but it comes back the next time the countdown crosses a threshold; if you’ve allowed notifications, the same warning also arrives as a desktop notification titled Relackout License Warning. None of this appears on the sign-in or welcome screens.
What’s next
You now know how a license gets bound to this computer, how many devices one license can run on at a time, how to name this computer, and how to move a license to a new one. For what each plan actually includes, see Plans and limits; if you run into an error message along the way, check License and activation issues.
